Xbox Dev Reveals at a "Really Exciting" Future for the Partnership with Discord

You'll be even thrilled to discover that the partnership is reported "only a step in a journey" if you were pleased to hear the news earlier this week that Xbox is joining forces with Discord to bring Discord Voice Chat to the platform.

Xbox Will Get Discord Voice Chat Soon
Who really is ready for Discord? Discord Voice Chat will be coming to the Xbox platform, and Microsoft and the Xbox team have announced that it will begin rolling out to Xbox Insiders today by becoming to the general public “soon.” For example, the update will be accessible to “select”

Xbox Engineer Bill Ridmann hinted last week on the Xbox Podcast that there will be a lot more Discord content for Xbox, though he couldn't provide any specifics at the time:

Like any feature, we continuously keep a close eye to user feedback to figure out how to improve things. And as a team, Xbox and Discord see this as simply the first step in a journey that has already included a number of really exciting preliminary discussions about what follows after voice chat on Xbox.
We have some really exciting things in the works, but I don't have anything specific to say about it at the moment.

Given that Sony announced a "minority interest" in Discord last year, which suggested that PlayStation will incorporate the service in 2022, this partnership between Xbox and Discord—which would seem to be near as a bit of a surprise.

However, there were reports that Microsoft was in "advanced talks" to buy Discord back in early 2021, but those chats ultimately failed. Whatever the case, it's great to see Xbox and Discord working so closely now!
